Apéritif O'Clock - The Lillet Stories
Working closely with Lillet brand Ambassador Clo Lataille for Artisanal Brand Co, I was tasked with creating a recipe book for Lillet following the theme 'The Journey of a French Aperitif in the UK'. The recipe book would act as a beautiful piece of print for Lillet brand ambassadors to leave behind when visiting bars and engaging with the trade.
The book contains interviews and cocktails from leading bartenders from seven cities around the UK including Edinburgh, Bristol and London. Clo, has lovingly brought these interviews and Lillet cocktail recipes to life through her unique watercolour illustrations. These illustrations, combined with bold typographic treatments and Lillets signature brand colours create a contemporary, sophisticated and impactful printed piece.
Working closely with Susan Mitchell, Paper & Print we created a print specification using a mix of Fedrigoni Papers and Ratchford book cloth, colour matching closely to the iconic Lillet red. This was then brought together beautifully by the team at Kingsbury Press to achieve the premium finish befitting of the book's content.
To celebrate the launch of the book, Clo took to the road serving up Lillet cocktails paired with live watercolour painting workshop with bartenders on a UK-wide promotional bar tour. With Lillet's nature being to be 'playful not precious', Clo even signed and painted some of the end papers of the books during the night that were gifted to bartender's.
To complete the project, I art directed the photography of the finished recipe book in a style which lends itself to the bold nature of the Lillet brand and the contemporary execution of the recipe book.
